Two Wall Street traders are offered the deal of their life, but the openly greedy, blunt and socially inapt behaviour of their business partner confuses them and triggers their suspicion. Based on a chapter from ‘The Big Short’ by Michael Lewis, this scene recaptures Gracian’s strategies of prudence and dissimulation within the social milieu of today’s business and finance world, a context in which it is still used as a manual on how to manipulate, as well as see through the deceptions of competitors.
