In November 2012 and January 2013, director Phoebe von Held organized a creative writing workshop, taught in two sessions, in collaboration with Natasha Soobramanien and Luke Williams. The workshop was aimed at NHS service users and explored through creative writing exercises, a home writing project, feedback and group discussion of the themes of The Manual Oracle: paranoia, self-consciousness and strategic thinking. The workshop sessions took place at the Department of Psychology, Institute of Psychiatry, and received generous advice and organizational support from numerous members of the Department of Psychology, the Maudsley Hospital, the Institute of Psychiatry, and the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
Thank you and everyone who setup and maintained and managed the workshops, you all put a lot of work into it and set a scene which allowed the participants to feel secure, inspired and so able to go with their own flow of creativity. Setting the scene and good management is vital to successful workshops. I loved the workshops and would be sooooooo happy if more of them come about, keep me posted. So, can we sign petitions, set up a rally, have a demo outside the IoP for more Manual Oracles.
