Forming part of the larger Manual Oracle theatre project, this acting workshop also explores the themes of self-consciousness, strategic thinking and paranoia. Following the prodution run of ‘The Manual Oracle’ play at The Yard Theatre, Hackney Wick, in May/June 2014, this two-session event will be facilitated by the artistic director, Phoebe von Held as well as other project associates.
The workshop is aimed at NHS mental health service users who are interested in exploring acting and theatre skills. It is free of charge and will be held over two afternoon sessions:
Session 1: We will be introducing the themes of ‘The Manual Oracle’ project. We will be undertaking warm-up acting exercises and start preparing a scene that we will explore more closely in Session 2.
Session 2: We will enact the chosen scene, share it with the group and exchange our experience with it as actors and audiences.
No previous acting experience is required. Acting work, group discussion and feedback will take place in a confidential and supportive group environment and there will be plenty of opportunity to meet other people in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
